The Hollandia Invitational serves as an excellent tune up for future championship meets in June and July.
The 12 & Under contigent includes:
Hannah Forster (10) swam 100% best times in all five of her events. Liam Gibson (10) finished first in the 200 and 400 freestyles as well as second in the 100fly and 4th in 200 Individual Medley and the 100 freestyle and backstroke. His brother Connor (12) dropped over 50 seconds in his 400 freestyle and 38 seconds in his 200 backstroke. Madison Heggie (11) also finished 7th in the 200 butterfly and 200 IM. Jessi Higgins (11) placed 4th in the 200 freestyle and 5th in the 400 as well as 7th in the 100. Sebastian Paulins (11) shed 75 seconds from his 400 freestyle previous best and swam best times in all of his events. Tanner Robinson (12) placed 5th in the 400 freestyle, 6th in the 200 backstroke and 7th in the 100 back, 200 freestyle and 400IM. Tyler Robinson (10) finished 7th in the 400 freestyle and swam 100% best times. Kennedy Russell (13) swam best times in five of her 6 events. Andrew Vallee (12) was 4th in the 400 freestyle and 7th in the 200IM as well as 8th in the 200 freestyle.
The 13 & Over swimmers participated in the preliminaries in the morning and most returned to swim at night. Their results:
Siena Calarco (14) finished 3rd in the 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. She was also 4th in the 50 breastroke and 5th in the 50 freestyle. Rachael Dudley (14) shed over 45seconds off of her previous best in the 400 freestyle and nearly 10 seconds in the 200. Sydney Harrington (16) placed 3rd in the 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke as well as 4th in the 50 back, 50 fly, 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Garrett Heggie (13) finished 7th in the 100 and 200 butterflys. Katie Jagus (16) took off over 20 seconds from her personal best in the 200 backstroke and swam PBs in her other three events. Her sister Lauren (14) swam best times in all five of her events. Following that trend Rachel Lynne-Davies (13) also swam to 100% best times at the meet. Kaitlyn Mitchell (15) finished 4th in the 800 freestyle and 5th in the 100 and 6th in the 200. Marc Muise (16) finished 5th in the 400IM and 6th in the 100 butterfly as well as 7th in the 200IM. Alex Paulins (14) finished 1st in the 50 butterfly and 2nd in the 50 freestyle and 3rd in the 200 backstroke. His older sister Beth (16) dropped over 50 seconds in the 800 freestyle and went on to swim personal bests in six of her seven events. Derek Quick (18) was 4th in the 100 and 200 freestyle and 6th in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. Alex Siuda (17) was 5th in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes as well as 7th in the 100 breastroke and 100 freestyle.
Overall the Brantford Aquatic Club finished 5th in team scores improving significantly from their 13th place finish last season.
